31 Days of Gratitude Journal: Day 12

Some of you who have been following me for a while will know that I am a girls mentor and I have a girls organisation called The Pearls of Purity. October last year, I felt led to start a School Uniform Bank Initiative. When the pandemic started and parents started losing jobs, it because very clear why the Lord laid this on my heart. At the beginning we didn’t really get donations. We had only 2 school uniforms donated for over 6 months. I was getting weary going to share flyers and post them through doors (when this was allowed) several times a week to raise awareness.

July came and it was like the heavens opened. We had so many donations. So much that we had to stop accepting at some point because I had no space to keep them. I thank God that we were able to provide free school uniforms to 25 families.

This initiative also gave the girls who I fondly call The Pearls an opportunity to look outward despite all that was going on in this season.

A researcher stumbled upon an interview I did with my church regarding this initiative and she used it as a case study for her masters programme. It also helped her yield to this leading that God also placed on her heart. She will be starting a school uniform bank in her city in the new year. How amazing!

You can watch the interview I did with my church here.

Being able to help my community this way definitely is one of the highlights of my year.
