GUEST POST | BOTH OF YOU

Journey as a believer is a continual walk with Christ, as it is required to know whom one is following and serving. To know Him isn’t an instantaneous action, it takes steps and stages in the knowing of Christ. Even the Apostle said; “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his suffering being made conformable unto his death” Philippians 3:10. This was an apostle that was inspired to write most of the books in the New Testament. But here he was saying “That I may know Him”. The journey with Christ can’t all be taught by men as some of the important part are to be experienced in the personal fellowship with Him.

Christ Himself said “…Learn of me…”Matthew 11:29. Which means we are actually called to learn and live our lives after a particular order. God yearns for a relationship with us also, we cannot afford to remain babes in our walk with Christ, we should also be eager to be closer and to hear from our Lord. Not as zealous ones without knowledge, but as a Child that is growing in the knowledge of his father and growing into stature too.

It is necessary that we listen to spiritual leaders to be instructed in the way of the Lord, because “..Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17. We need to hear the preaching of the word from the ministers also. Spiritual Leaders are accountable for all their children as a shepherd is accountable for the flock. But even the child needs to grow and be able to feed upcoming generation with the Love of the Father. There are things that God wants to discuss with His children in the secret places; A believer shouldn’t forsake that relationship to replace with the congregational fellowship.

Other believers should not always be the only avenue you have to hear from God. Just like saying your brother is the only means through which you communicate with your father; even if it is convenient for you or your dad or both of you, it still doesn’t show the full weight of the Love. We all need to talk to God ourselves in our secret places to avoid confusion. Just like the Prophet in the book of 1st King 13 that was deceived by the other prophet.

To wrap it all up, the interest of God is in the relationship between both of you. It is not enough to only be part of the congregation. He wants you to learn of Him, Abide in Him, Walk with Him and also fellowship with Him. He wants a Fellow-ship because both of you are Fellows in the same Ship, it requires a combined effort. Selah.

  1. True! We need both – we should not forsake the assembling together (Hebrews 10:25). But you’re right, “There are things that God wants to discuss with His children in the secret places; A believer shouldn’t forsake that relationship to replace with the congregational fellowship.”
This Corona virus lock-down should not be seen as an inconvenience, but an opportunity to spend more time alone with God.

  3. The Apostle Paul who wrote 1/3 of the new testament stated, “that I may know Him” that lets us know we can never stop learning about God. We can never get to a place where we can feel we know all there is to know, we should be continual learners of the Word.
