Are we willing to let go?

It is in our human nature to hold back and keep everything within our reach. The words sacrifice, giving or letting go aren’t the best words we love to hear.

The year has just started and if you are like me, the cry for more of God and deeper intimacy with God is in our hearts and lips. A good thing indeed that is. However I would like to remind us all (including me) that that prayer will be answered but we will loose something in the process. In order words, for that prayer to be answered, we WILL have to let go of something.

To experience an encounter so great that changes our name and our relationship with God, we will have to leave our secret place with a dislocated hip. Yes, we will have to be detached from something. Some good things included. Things like certain TV shows, certain movies, certain games, certain habits, idleness. Yes, things we necessarily never thought were that bad of a sin or we never even identified as sin.

As you read this heading you might be thinking well “I would love to let go of something but I have already given all I have”. This is wrong because the deeper you get into with God, the more pruning you will get. This process isn’t a bad thing because it always leads to a priceless goal.

If you are already giving a lot, there is always room for growth.

Jacob’s hip was dislocated before his name was changed to Israel. Sacrifice brings about experience. Seek God and you will find Him. It’s a shame that these days we think we can just stroll through His presence once in a while. If we don’t sow, we won’t reap. What we sow is exactly what we will reap. The measure with which we give is what we will receive. Until we are willing to endure the pain of walking about with a dislocated hip, we are not ready for our names to be changed.

  1. Truth! God has also been speaking to me about this and I shared a prophetic word the other day in worship. Here’s the link if you want to check it out. It’s near the end of the video.

Thank you for sharing the truth of Jesus! ❤️🙏

Thought about this passage as I listened…..”Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and [b]finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God…Hebrews 12:1-2

God continues to amaze me! He’s doing something truly mind-blowing and I’m grateful that He chose US ALL to be a part! Lord, it’s ALL about You, for Your glory, not ours!

      4. My favourite scripture. It was whilst I was meditating on this scripture last 2 years, I felt the leading to do The Heroes and Heroines of faith series. That series changed my life

Those “sitting at the feet of Jesus” moments prove to be the most powerful times in our lives where God begins to pour it on! I love Him soooo much!

    1. Hello. I’m glad you have come back to God. I did have a moment in my life when I was doing my own thing until I realised how empty my life was. Coming back to God was the best decision I ever made. It hasn’t been a rosy ride but God has and is still helping me through the ups and downs. I am glad you found this post encouraging. And I pray it pushes you even closer to God. I will be praying that you will continue to find strength in this journey. Blessings to you!
