Have you discovered that it doesn’t really take a lot to sin? I mean you don’t have to go out of your way to look for something that will make you stumble. These things are around us wherever we turn. One of the tactics the devil uses to make us sin is to make what we need to sin ready. It comes already made. The girl/guy is right there in our face to flirt with. The pornographic content is not difficult to get. To lie just seem like the easiest and logical thing to do. These temptations come cooked, garnished, served in a beautiful dish with a nice set of cutlery waiting. He even goes extra by pulling out our seat to allow us easy access to the buffet of sin. The smell of the dish of sin becomes so good and irresistible just like the smell of Jacob’s porridge.
Jacob didn’t have to rush to the kitchen after negotiation with Esau to go prepare the porridge that will make Esau sell his birthright. He already had the food ready. Once the deal was struck, food was served straightaway.
Watch out before you eat that porridge! We need to watch out so we don’t allow immediate gratification rob us of eternity. Immediate gratification is oftentimes the road that leads to disaster. It robbed Esau of his blessings. It has robbed marriages of their peace. It has robbed young people of their degrees. It has robbed some of their mental health. Many are dead today because of it. The destruction it causes hasn’t stopped. It is always lurking around seeking for another person to kill, another destiny and bright future to steal, another marriage to end, another faith to steal. The devil is smart. Let’s not get carried away. Watch out!
You’re absolutely right. We should watch out.
Happy weekend.

Like my daughter says when she stands at the edge of the bed, “That’s the way to fall”. We must keep ourselves off the edge. Great message.

Amen! You have presented this subject well, Efu. Very descriptive. And, you have also described well the destruction that our sins cause, too, not only in our own lives, but in the lives of those whose lives we touch. Thank you for coming on here and giving this warning to everyone. Not one of us is immune to Satan’s evil schemes against us, which is why we have to “watch out!” If we don’t watch, and if we don’t put on the armor of God, then we just open ourselves wide to the smorgasbord, and then we are on very dangerous footing.

Dear Efua,
I’m a follower of your blog.
I was praying tonight about a personal issue and God directed me to you in the middle of my prayer for help.
Would you mind if I email you?
It’s a personal and sensitive matter but I think you may be able to help me if you are willing?

Truth!!!
The fact the soup was ready right afterward…convicting! We essentially “get” a form of pleasure from sin. But it is not lasting.
JESUS IS!
May we choose Him over our weak flesh.
