His Undeserving Love

One of the things that made me stay away from God during my lowest season of life in my teenage years was because I felt I didn’t deserve His love. In those dark moments, sin was a little bit soothing and comforting. It was, because I felt I didn’t have to pretend to be something I was not before the people I was with then. The other side to this was that because I was doing what I was doing, I felt there was no way I could ever receive God’s unfailing love. I have met with people who have felt same way.

God’s love is limitless. Romans 8:38-39 says;

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[a]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. 38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The above scripture gives me so much comfort whenever I read it. It’s a reminder that nothing can ever pull me away from the love of Christ Jesus.

The love of Christ for us doesn’t diminish when we sin. It’s not measured by our righteousness. He died for us while we were still sinners.

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8)

So don’t buy into the lies of the devil. Our Good Father’s arms are always wide opened to receive us. He still loves you!

God’s love truly doesn’t make sense. This post reminds me of the songs below.

I pray today that you will be opened to His reckless love.

I pray that you will stop fighting the idea that this kind of love exist and accept the purest form of love you can ever get.

I pray that your heart will be softened towards God.

I pray that you will be able to look past your mistakes and see His arms wide opened to receive you.

I rebuke the voice of the devil and I call him a liar.

I pray that you will not accept his lies and you will come to the knowledge of who you are in God.

I pray you will accept these three words you most likely have heard before.

  1. God’s love is totally free. He expects nothing in return. In fact, there is NOTHING that we can do to deserve God’s love. I had to come to that realization as well, as I was raised in a home and church that believed in good works. Now that I know the truth, I feel free and very loved! Thank you for sharing your revelation!

    1. So much freedom comes from that realisation! I thank God Sis. There is absolutely nothing we can do to deserve His love. Our selfish minds struggle with this hence we prefer staying under manmade rules that keep us in bondage. Thank God for the Holy Spirit who sets us free by revealing the truth of God’s word to us! Praise God!

WHO of us does not need to be loved? Indeed, we thrive when we feel loved by family and friends. Sadly, though, human relationships can be very fragile and uncertain. Loved ones may hurt us, abandon us, or even reject us. Yet, there is someone whose love is unfailing. The love that Jehovah God has for his worshippers is beautifully described at Romans 8:38, 39.

  3. Wonderful words of truth!
I find God’s love for me – His unconditional love – hard to grasp.
I struggle with shame but keep bringing it back to my Heavenly Father.
I love the song Reckless Love.
Thanks for such an encouraging post.

    1. Hi Bridget😊. Thanks for stopping by. His love is too deep for us to grasp. I struggled with shame too because of past decisions. I have blogged about them. You can read them by searching for ‘why I chose my blog name’. But hey I realised that I have been washed by the blood of Jesus Christ and that blood washes away my shame. I will be praying for you and I pray that you continue to bring it to God. Devil is our accuser but Jesus Christ is our advocate. Blessings to you!

    1. I’m glad it touched it Lynn! Every time I think of His love, I get overwhelmed and it brings tears to my eyes. He doesn’t have to love us as much as He does because we don’t deserve it. But He has chosen to love us regardless because He is love Himself. He doesn’t go against His nature
