Until recently i used to remove myself whenever i read or heard of this scripture. I interpreted it as “Other people’s heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?”

However my assumption was totally wrong. The bible verse says “the heart”. Everyone’s heart including mine. There is one thing that i am certain of. It’s the fact that my heart is evil and dirty. If left to wonder, it can create thoughts that will be disgraceful to see when brought to light. I still find myself appalled at some of my thoughts and actions. This is true because i live in a fallen world. In my own ability i can never tick all the boxes in God’s book. Even the moralist are guilty of sinful thoughts like myself. I believe that there is eternity after this life and there is no way i can have eternal rest if i depend on my ability alone.

I don’t know about you but i have tried doing it alone and failed woefully. Other religions talk about us doing it on our own. Christianity is the only place where i am told and shown who i really am and that i can never get it all right. Jesus has taught me that i was never made to do this alone. He tells me that the Holy Spirit is here to help me. I know i need help. So why will i want to follow a religion that marks my wrongdoings and offers me no supernatural support?

Being a christian has opened my eyes to the fact that there is something called pure love which can only be received from God through Jesus. This is not a love without proof. God had to give up His son to death just so i can be included in His kingdom. No other religion has a proof like this. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. This is why i decided to build my tent in the christian camp.

If you are trying to be good on your own, trust me you never will. Accept help and come and join me in my christian family where we are aided by the Holy Spirit to do better :).
