“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.”
Proverbs 9:10 NLT
Wisdom outside Christ isn’t pure. When looked into deeply, we will be able to see selfishness hidden inside such wisdom. The one from Christ isn’t so. It is pure, selfless and true.
The second part of this verse is what really ministered to me. “Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment”. To judge isn’t difficult. What is difficult is to make good judgement especially in tough situations. There is good judgement and right judgement. This is very right on time for me as I am trying to make right judgement regarding a very crucial issue. You see to be able to judge something rightly, we need to see it through the lens of Christ. And for us to be able to see it this way, we need to know who Christ is and His characteristics.
Who is Jesus Christ?
He is pure, just, right, love, wise, patient, kind, merciful, gracious, forgiving, compassionate, gentle, committed, available and the list goes on. I am sure you know many more which you can add in the comment section.
To be able to give right judgement in any situation, we need to be able to pause for a minute and think about how Jesus Christ would deal with it. Knowing that He is loving, will make us decide to love. Knowing that He is gracious, will make us decide to offer grace instead of giving up. Knowing that He is available, will make us try and be there for others instead of burying our heads in our tight schedules. We might be the one needing someone to talk to tomorrow. How would we feel if there is no one available for us? Knowing that He is forgiving, makes us decide to forgive. This is a big one for me. I always tell and remind myself about how He decided to give me several chances which I really don’t merit. To be forgiven is to allow us another chance to forgive someone else.
Are you stuck? Are you under pressure to decide on something? Trace your decision to the characteristics of Christ and let your judgement reflect Him.
Blessings to you❤️
You are so right in that one does need to pause and reflect on Jesus’s character before decisions are made. He knows the way that we should go and will show us if we take the time to reflect and ask Him.

“If we take the time to reflect and ask”. I really love this you said. Thanks for your reply. I pray we apply His attributes in our daily lives

Amen! Seeing “through the lens of Christ” is true empathy and very much needed with so many hurting people whose hurts may make them act out in less than lovely ways. We need to love the person like Jesus does, despite how they may behave or what they may do.

And that can be very tough to do. But I have realised that the more we feed on God’s word and dwell in His presence, the more we are able to live selfless lives as He wants us to

Amen, sis! It is always good for us to reflect and take a step back then to jump forward without consulting Him.

Absolutely. I sometimes go ahead of Him and then come back when I am stuck. Trying to do better now
