Feeling Worthless?

If you are feeling low about yourself today, I would like to share something I studied last night in the hopes that it encourages you.

Last night I wanted to study Matthew 5 again so I could continue with my ongoing series on The Beatitudes. But for some reason as I was worshipping, the sentence “who am I that you are mindful of me” kept coming to my spirit and after worship I decided to do a study on this scripture.

“O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens. You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you. When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers— the moon and the stars you set in place— what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them? Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority— the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents. O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭8:1-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The above text talks a lot about the majestic nature of God. And in order to know our worth, we have to try and understand (even if we can never fully grasp) the greatness of God. Comparing ourselves with God humbles and brings us to a place of awe for God.

This God who created the vast universe that the scientists can’t fully fathom, is the same God who created you. Yes He did and gave you a stamp of His approval. He created you a little lower than Himself and the angels! Isn’t that amazing to think about? He considers you highly valuable. He is so concerned about you and your well-being. He even knows the amount of hair on your head.

The same God who created the world, said His thoughts for you are not of evil. He has a plan for you. He gave you power and authority and full access to Him 24/7.

This bible passage ministered to me last night and ignited a flame of boldness inside me and at the same time a reverential fear for His majesty.

God crowned us with glory and honour. Yes including you. Stop talking yourself out it. You are honoured by God.

So when next the “I’m of no good and I will amount to nothing” thoughts comes into your mind, take them captive and compare them with the word of God. Thereafter you need to decide on whose report you want to believe. If it is the one from The One who made you and understands you totally or from the one who is doing a guess work about you.

For me I choose to believe the report of God. I wish I can put how I felt after studying this scripture into words. I will encourage you to study this bible passage and I pray that as you study, the Holy Spirit will light up your heart with truth so you can know and understand who you truly are.

***I understand some people might need help with therapy and that is OK.***

Stay encouraged❤️

  1. Amen Efua

I like the part of that verse ” the moon and the stars you set in place”. Lately I have been spending a lot of time nature watching (its never been something that I have been interested in up until recently). I think its awesome that we are loved by a God who communicates. He shows us how much he loves us by putting on display his creation! Just gotta slow down long enough to observe.

Deciding on whose report you want to believe – so important!

    Thanks for sharing

    1. Hey Evad! Amen to this! “ we are loved by a God who communicates.” I really like this you said. He is always speaking but we are oftentimes too busy to hear Him. Like you said we need to slow down. I really need to observe nature more to be honest. I think it explains a lot about the majestic nature of God.

And besides where have you been? Good to see you here again🙂

      1. G’day there. I really do recommend observing nature, you will be amazed. I have seen birds fly straight up in the air and circle their way down again, like they are playing on the wind-amazing. God is good.

I have been in a bit of a season wanting to manage my time better. Between working full time, a newish marriage and growth stuff its sometimes hard to find the time to sit and blog. know what I mean? Anyway I have a month off from next week and off to the states with the wife. Cant wait to be refreshed!

      2. I understand the struggle of trying to know priorities and balance time. One of the reasons I don’t particularly have a schedule here because other needs can becoming pressing anytime. But yeah to holidays. I hope you both enjoy the break.

  2. You are so right! Feeling worthless is pride, plain and simple. Reflecting too much on what I think of myself. This is a great time to consider what God thinks of us. His thoughts are precious about us and too innumerable to count (Psalm 139:17-18). What an awesome thought to consider!

    Be blessed

    1. Wow I never thought of it as pride but you are damn right! It is pride when we prefer to figure out our worth without believing and accepting who He has made us to be. Thanks for this revelation Pete. Blessings!

  3. Sad reality is how difficult it is for some to truly grasp the worth we have in God when they’ve been held prisoner for so long by the internalized thoughts, attitudes, and actions of others that oppose that truth (and that often began as a child). Definitely awe-inspiring verses worth meditating on, though, no matter where we are in the healing process!

    1. Sad truth hun. It’s crazy how the devil manipulates our minds to refuse the truth and accept his lies. Bringing free and remaining free is a definitely a process and the length varies from person to person. But just like you said no matter where we are in the healing process, these verses are definitely worth meditating on. I believe healing starts from within because if an individual doesn’t accept the truth, no matter the therapy they go to, it still won’t help. I pray that the veil covering our eyes from seeing our worth be taken away in Jesus name. Amen
