Help fill my void

Do you feel an emptiness on the inside? Do you feel your life is in need of something but you can’t place your finger on what it is? Are you always acquiring things but feeling empty at the same time?

I know that feeling. I have gone through that season as well. The mistakes we make is that we try to fill the void with earthly things. With marriage, academic degree, wealth, relationships, positions, exercise, alcohol, sex and everything else.

Jesus is the only one that can fill that void. He says;

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. (John 6:35).

Anything outside Jesus will only give you temporary filling. A husband cannot fill the void in a wife. Our wholeness and completion is found in Jesus Christ. If you marry someone with the intention of that person helping to fill your void, you will be disappointed in the end. We all are humans and there is an extent to which we can help. It also isn’t fair on your partner for you to expect something like that from him/her. They are not your Jesus Christ.

The same analogy applies to other relationships. Your friend is not your Jesus Christ. Your spiritual leader can’t take His place either. No one can replace Him. True satisfaction is found in Him and in Him alone. He is knocking at the door of your heart. Allow Him in.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20)

Are you thinking you aren’t fit enough. Do you feel you are not qualified to let Him in? See what He says about that.

“…….whoever comes to me I will never drive away.” (John 6:37)

His shoulders are the only ones strong enough to receive every burden without going weak.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.ā€ (Matthew 11:28-30).

Think about how long you’ve been trying to figure life out on your own. God our creator knows we can’t live successfully without a helper. Hence He sent us His Holy Spirit who is our helper (John 14:26).

Don’t wait any longer. Don’t allow that heartache linger. Stop pretending you are ok when you really aren’t. I have tried it and I can testify that life is a lot easier when we allow Jesus to help us with it. Give Him a trial. Let Him in now and He will help you fill that void.
