Continuation of The Former You

………You remembered the verse in the bible that says confess your sin one to another. Who will you speak to became the question. How were you going to deal with the judgment from fellow Christians. Thinking of the shame that could come as a result, you decided to stay mute.

Why did my life take a different turn? You prayed with tears running down your cheeks. You prayed for God not to strike you in His anger. You prayed for Him to show you mercy and grace. The more you prayed, the more you didn’t see the need to be forgiven.

But God being the merciful father that He is, gave you an avenue to speak up. God orchestrated your paths to meet with some ladies who prayed for you.

After the prayers, you experienced relief, freedom and peace. This was a fresh start for you. Could it be that this was exactly what the devil never wanted to see? Oh yes! He always wants to see us miserable and defeated. When you gave up on yourself, God refused to give up on you. John 6:37 ….. and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

God gave you another chance to make things right. He told you that you have been given enough grace to cover every pain you have gone through:). These words gave you a huge relief and made you realise that although you can’t erase the past, you can decide not to allow a particular event in your past define the rest of your life.

As a reader can you relate to this story? Do you find yourself in a similar situation? You might have done something that makes you feel unworthy of God’s love. The devil being the accuser of the brethren is always there to constantly remind us of our past. We need to know that Jesus died for the forgiveness of our sins. Once we repent, we are forgiven. The challenge most times is in our unwillingness to forgive ourselves. The devil knows that unforgiveness will make us withdraw from God, so he keeps reminding us of how filthy we are.

Remind yourself of God’s love. His mercies are new every morning. The fact that you are alive and you are reading this right now is a proof that you have another chance to start afresh. God has forgiving you. Do yourself a favour by accepting His forgiveness. Forgive yourself.

How to let go of the hurt of the past

  • Come to God the way you are. Don’t try to make excuses for doing what you did.
  • Pray to God for forgiveness
  • Accept God’s forgiveness
  • Forgive yourself
  • Study the bible and let God reveal Himself to you
  • Share your testimony to help others.

Always remember that there is enough grace available to cover your pain.

Signed,

The new you 🙂
